A PIECE OF CAPTAIN COUSTEAU’S VESSEL

Jacques Cousteau was an inventor, explorer, and ultimately a television star. He used his ship the Calypso to journey around the globe seeking underwater adventure. With both a helicopter and submarine on board, it was a traveling laboratory to explore the oceans.

When she was replaced with a new ship, he had the idea to sink her to form an artificial reef for fish to breed in. Before that could happen, the ship collided with a barge and sank.

It is now 20 years in reconstruction. Somewhere in the process they removed the wooden decking. This is a piece of Calypso, the most famous ship on television (with the possible exception of the Love Boat or the S.S. Minnow)
